Opportunity House is a non-profit resale shop that has been serving Monroe County since 1968. This volunteer-run store, affectionately know as "Opp House," can still be found at its original location in Bloomington.

Donate To Opportunity House

Donations of gently used belongings are accepted Monday-Saturday, 8:30am-3:00pm. Making a donation will help to raise funds for MCUM's programs and help usable items find a new home. In addition, your items will be made available at a very low price, which makes Opportunity House a great resource for those struggling to make ends meet. Also, Opp House's relationship with MCUM means that MCUM's Emergency Services clients can "shop" for free with a voucher for emergency clothes and household items.

Accepted items include: housewares, clothing, antiques, collectibles, sporting goods, toys, linens, small furniture, small appliances, books, and magazines.

Opp House is not able to accept dirty or stained items, non-functioning appliances, textbooks or encyclopedias, large furniture, or large appliances.

Shop at Opportunity House

The store is open Monday-Saturday, 9:00am-2:00pm. New treasures are donated every day so be sure to visit the store often! The proceeds from your purchases supports MCUM's affordable childcare and basic needs assistance services.

Volunteer at Opportunity House

Volunteers are needed to accomplish a wide variety of tasks. Are you interested in being a cashier? Sorting incoming donations? Sewing buttons or making small clothing repairs?
